Two Day Charity Greenlaning Event

THE BARUM CHALLENGE

The Devon Area of the AWDC are holding a charity fundraising event on the 5-6-7th of September 2008. The event will consist of an offroad driving weekend where teams will raise money through sponsorship.
They will then travel around a given course all over North Devon, covering as many miles as possble on Green Lanes, between off-road sites. At these sites there will be a varied amount of 'Challenges' for them to overcome. The Challenge is to complete all of the required elements over the weekend. The event will not be timed in any way and so removes the element of speed.
We are raising money for primarily two charities The Devon Air Ambulance and CLIC Sargent. Information on these organisations can be got from leaflets or on the internet http://www.daat.org or http://www.clicsargent.org.uk

WHAT IS IT GOING TO COST - £60 per vehicle as an entry fee. (If you have a team of 3 vehicles then you can enter all 3 vehicles for £150.00)
- For your entry fee you and your passenger will get; free camping, we will feed you from Saturday morning to sunday lunchtime, a T-shirt for driver and co-driver,a good weekend of greenlaning and you will also help Charities gain vital funds.
Each vehicle will need to gain sponsorship of £200.00 which will go to nominated charities.

ALL PERSONS IN VEHICLES WILL NEED TO BE A MEMBERS OF THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE CLUB. (If you arn't we can organise discounted membership for you through this event)

There will be two different routes run - GREEN - for those of you who are less experienced at off roading (NON Damaging) Any 4x4 with a reasonable set of tyres on it will be able to complete.
- RED - for those who like a bit of a challenge, your vehicles may incur some minor damage (depending on your driving capability and experience).

For the Green route you will be able to drive the weekend in a nearly standard vehicle but will need a reasonable set of tyres on it.

For the RED route your team will require at least TWO winches (for self recovery) within the team of three vehicles. Suitable tyres and other recovery equipment.
